Adjusting the Lap Band
Once the patient has had the lap band procedure and starts the recovery process, they will then return as needed to their lap band surgeon for a band adjustment.
Injecting saline into the port inflates the band, making the pathway to the lower part of the stomach smaller, which further prohibits food consumption. Fluid can easily be taken away in the doctor's office if the patient is finding the fit too tight.
Periodic lap band adjustments are a portion of the ongoing post-surgical treatment drawn up for each lap band patient. Patients generally return to work in a week or so following lap band surgery, and return to their pre-surgery form in one to three weeks.
When all is said and done, the Lap Band Result is positive for most people who undergo the surgery. For many, it is the solution they were looking for after years of seeing their weight go up and down on a regular basis.
